BodyTalk System

Die BodyTalk Philosophy: Communicate - Synchronize - Balance

Photo Body PixelIt could be for years, that the body has tried to tell something, pointing to problems, »squeezing ones chest« or something else. This could be a parasite, a believe system, environmental impact, an event from a long time ago, a gland or organic weakness, the body energy system, the body water balance and so on. Nothing is digested if it is not processed. With the BodyTalk practitioner and his query of the BodyTalk protocol the body has found someone who is capable to listen and support.

The BodyTalk practitioner is like a conductor. For him poor health status is a sign, that the body's innate wisdom needs support for healing, to keep synchronicity in the body. The BodyTalk practitioner askes the innate wisdom using biofeedback (muscle testing), to establish the bodyparts, which are unsatisfactory linked and have poor communication. The innate wisdom will also tell via biofeedback, which priorities should be set to reestablish communication between all the systems and parts of the bodymind. The practitioner addresses the parts that need to be linked, touches them or asks the client to touch them. Meanwhile the practitioner is tapping on the head and sternum (heart) to facilitate the linkage and store it. This will support the body's innate wisdom and the self-healing capabilities on all levels - physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. It is not necessary to mentally grasp or understand the (re-)established links.

What is »Innate«?

In the BodyTalk System the term innate describes the animating principle that directs the bodymind's impulse towards healing. When the intellect defers to this self-determining principle, on an intuitive level we tune into the deeper wisdom of the bodymind. In accordance with the directives of innate, the practitioner can then use the BodyTalk techniques in a highly effective way. BodyTalk then serves as a medium for better aligning the client's physical, mental and emotional systems with naturally occurring healing processes. This enhances and accelerates the bodymind's ability to heal itself.

How BodyTalk began

Book BodyTalk John Veltheim

John Veltheim had severe glandular fever, Epstein-Barr virus, when he was 39 years old.

Although he recovered from the acute stage of the illness, he was left with a chronic virus. This Chronic Fatigue Syndrome left John extremely tired. He also had aching muscles, headaches, muscle cramps, an inability to exercise or do physical work, and a chronic temperature. Doctors even told him he could end up in a wheelchair, since the virus was still present in his blood after several years.

After his second treatment (similar to elements of today's BodyTalk), John had an immune reaction that lasted three days. His temperature rose to 103°F (39.4°C) and he experienced flu-like symptoms. A few days later John was feeling great. All symptoms had disappeared. The next week John had blood tests that verified the virus had gone. All that was left were the signs of increased antigen activity; signifying that his immune system had finally beaten the virus.

John Veltheim »The BodyTalk System« PaRama (1999) ISBN: 0964594498 The book is an excellent presentation of the fundamental components of the BodyTalk system, the philosophy and science behind it, and an extensive collection of case studies and key treatment protocols.

BodyTalk vs Reiki

BodyTalk and Reiki are two highly effective modalities to strengthen and harmonize body energies. Being very different in methodology both are yet wonderful examples of uninvolved interaction. The practitioner acts as a medium, and practitioner and client let a treatment simply happen.

Reiki is simple, manifests as universal energy, cannot be controlled and can be directly applied for self-treatments and treatments of others after a Reiki master initiates someone to Reiki. The energy goes to where it is needed most, despite any intent the practitioner may have.

In BodyTalk there are NO - initiations. BodyTalk is detective work (search for priorities). The results depend upon how the practitioner is present and not involved (NO - diagnosis, NO - control). What needs addressing? The innate wisdom of the bodymind (the manifest consciousness of the client in talk with the manifest consciousness of the practitioner) tells which rigidity or state of dis-ease is ready to fall away, and it will lead the practitioner to the required links. Self treatments are possible in Bodytalk, however not so efficient, if specific links are to be brought up. One could support himself by pragmatic execution for example of essential general balances.

In both BodyTalk and Reiki it is not the ego of the practitioner that is causing results, nor is it the such called »focus«, better to be named intention. True focus means being present to what is NOW, and to let happen whatever the treatment is affecting and effecting. Then, anything can result and nothing may result.

The Amygdala

Many of us have resigned to stress as the inevitable, unwelcome companion in modern daily life. Is it normal to overreact and go into panic mode when a deadline is near? Is it normal to ignore problems in relationships and suffer from anger or worry? This is normal isn't it?

There is a part in our brain the size of an almond, called the amygdala, which is responsible for our fight or flight mechanism since prehistoric times, when we had to decide whether to fight or run away from a tiger in front of us. At that time the amygdala was working well, and after escaping from the tiger, in the evening we could sit around the campfire and laugh about it, because the amygdala had relaxed and reset itself.

Nowadays stresses are of a different kind, and besides fight or flight we can and often choose a third option, which is more damaging to our bodies. This is to freeze, and among all this is the most harmful choice.

Because the amygdala is bombarded with constant signals of danger, but there is no real response. Watching TV this is even trained on a subtle level, when some armed forces in the attempt to gain control start screaming »freeze«. This builds great pressure, without the chance to relax and reset. The body is wearing out, like a car that is driven with full throttle and tightened handbrake at the same time.

Damage to the amygdala leads to inappropriate behavior, unnecessary anxiety or excessive aggression. In the permanent need for protection the adrenal glands are in full swing all the time, to supply enough adrenaline and cortisone for whatever threats might be around. The stress turns inwards because there is neither fight nor flight. This creates new health problems and worsens the already existing ones: headaches get stronger and more frequent, etc.

In BodyTalk there is a simple 2 minutes technique I teach to every client, so he can perform it on a daily basis. This is the Cortex balance and it serves to relax and reset the amygdala. The cortex balance also improves the communication between the left and right brain hemisphere of the brain.

Case History

These are experiences with BodyTalk. Nobody could say what would have happened without balancing with BodyTalk - or what would have happened to a different person with BodyTalk. Every person is unique, due to genetics, experiences and environmental effects. Similar symptoms might have totally different causes, and so the effects of BodyTalk balances might vary.

The described procedures are NO - substitute for consulting a physician or naturopath, when serious health disorders are suspected. Neither can copying the sequences below make full use of BodyTalk which usually includes specific links to body parts, environmental factors, energy systems, stored emotions and so on. More details are given in the book by John Veltheim, or in a BodyTalk class.

Heavy Cold

The nose was clogged and the sinuses said hello with headache. This night seemed to become heavy. This was the opportunity to try the just learned BodyTalk technique against viruses, see below. There was an immediate reaction. The pressure in the sinuses went down, and suddenly the nose was free. I could go to bed without spray or expectorant and fall asleep quite easily. The night was more restful than during previous colds, and so was the whole course of the cold. I repeated the balance on the following two days. NO - relieving medicine was necessary.

And this is the basic treatment procedure (best done with a second persons help)

  • Take a tissue or cotton bud and rub it on the gums to get a sample of saliva and traces of blood. Place it on a high energy center of the body. The best place is in the navel (belly button). The innate wisdom will sample the information.
  • For better focus write viruses on a piece of paper and place it next to it.
  • Place your hands on either side of your head. The hands will cover the temples to the upper half of the ears. This connects the limbic part of the brain to the treatment that is vital for results.
  • While you keep your hands on the sides of your head the other person now does the cortex treatment. That is: place one hand on the head at the base of the scull and upper neck. While holding that position, tap the top of the head and sternum, alternating for a full breath cycle (make sure the fingers are spread so that some impact is being made on both hemispheres of the brain - at least one finger has to touch either side of the head).
  • Now move the one hand from the position base of the scull and upper neck next to the one you just did. (You are going to systematically cover the whole head.) In the new position, tap out the head and sternum alternating for a full breath. This procedure is repeated until you have covered the whole mid-line of the head. It usually takes four to five positions.
  • Cotton bud and piece of paper can now be removed.

With this treatment left and right brain are balanced and attention is focused on the viruses.

Similar treatment with analogous focus is possible for bacteria or parasites, the more details are known - the better.

If there is NO - second person for help the positions may be alternated during the tapping process, or focus may be paid using additional slips of paper, e.g. at the temples.

Dry Skin and Chapped Lips

I was 2 weeks traveling with tent on 5000m altitude in the Tibetan plateau. Quite fast cold wind and strong sun exposure led to chapped lips - despite all the cream that was supposed to increase the moisture of the skin from outside. One day I even found the skin of my legs extremely dry and peeling. I decided to go for the following bodytalk balance.

  • SB-joint (optimization of the breath function), thereafter link small intestine with diaphragm.
  • Cortices.
  • Hydration balance (same procedure as with viruses however the cotton bud is moistened with water).

This single treatment had a remarkable effect. Within minutes lips and skin got rehydrated. From that moment on I did not need any cream for the remainder of the journey at all. My water consumption and thirst feeling remained approximately unchanged; however the water seems to have been better absorbed by the cells. Before the return flight Kathmandu airport staff removed all creams, gels and liquids from my hand luggage. However also during the flight I had not felt the need of nose ointment or moisturizing lotion despite the very dry air inside the aircraft, what for me was unusual.

Breathing Function Normalized

Physicians had found in a pulmonary functional test that Verena was not able to fully exhale. After every breath cycle a rather high amount of used up air remained in the lungs. The finding was many years old.

It is essential for a healthy bodymind, that there are complete breathing in and out cycles, not just for the supply of vital energy, but it is a function of the brain to scan all aspects of the person in different phases of breathing. In case of deficiency symptoms self healing processes are then initiated by the brain. Of course this may work only, when the relevant parts are scanned at all.

Verena received a balance of the spheno-basilar-joint and the cortices (right and left brain) thereafter. This led to a spontaneous flood of energy supply. Later Verena wrote »I am feeling so great. My lungs never felt so fit before. Thank you very much!« After this experience Verena reported about her fear, this feeling of free breath might suddenly disappear. However this was not the case, and because the SB-joint was just released there is NO - reason for such worry. But for me there is one question that remains: Who really knows, if his breath is free? Surrender - in a breath
